Ruby "Jandal" Parker Duggan, age 81, passed away August 30, 2016 at Washington County Extended Care Facility, Sandersville, Georgia, following an extended illness. She was a devoted wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend.
Jandal was born on October 13, 1934 in Johnson County. She was the oldest daughter of Wiley G. Kitchens, Sr. and Gladys Blount Kitchens. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 51 years, William L. Parker; her brothers, Wiley G. Kitchens, Jr. and Jackie "Blount" Kitchens, brother-in laws; Billy Bridges, Victor Parker and Jonathan Parker; Sister-in laws; Bernice Kitchens and Katie Parker.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Duggan; daughters Sandy Parker Bales, Margie Anderson (Charlie)and Debbie Fessler (Paul), sons, Ronnie Duggan (Vicky), and Billy Duggan, Jr. (Rhonda); grandchildren Heather Kaye Bales, Courtney Ann Bales, Dustin Duggan, Kristen Duggan, Katlin Duggan. Michael Fessler, Daniel Fessler, Joy Fessler, and Andrew Fessler, Brian Buccarelli, Michael Duggan, Kevin Duggan, Amanda Boyd, Andrew Duggan, Micha Duggan, and Caleb Duggan, and Hannah Duggan. Her sisters, Ernestine Kitchens Hall (William) and Princine Kitchens Bridges. Numerous nieces nephews and great grandchildren.
Jandal graduated from Wrightsville High School in 1952 which was one of the first classes to go through 12th grade. She was employed by the Royal Manufacturing in Sandersville for a few years. She was a professional seamstress and a stay at home Mom for 3 1/2 years until beginning her banking career at the Bank of Wrightsville. After 36 years of dedicated service to her banking customers she retired in 2001 as Assistant Vice President of Operations.
She was a faithful member of Arline United Methodist Church in Wrightsville, Georgia for over 60 years. She served as treasurer of the Methodist Church Circuit for 17 years. She was a member of the choir for several years and participated in Bible Study Group.
Jandal was a very smart lady and was happiest when she was surrounded her family and friends. She had the opportunity to travel with her husband Billy over the last few years before her illness. She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her pimento cheese sandwiches among other things. One of the highlights that she looked forward to each year was the Class of 1952 reunion. She truly had a servants heart and was affectionately known as Sweetheart, Momma, Grandmommy, Granny Jan, Aunt Jandal, Jandal and Jan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Arline Chapel United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. John Walker, Rev. Hugh Baxter and Rev. Hal Taylor will officiate
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 2, 2016 at the funeral home.
