Mrs. Holmes was born February 15, 1942, in Statesboro, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Leo J. Dixon and Ella Mae Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Patsy Wise and Betty Waters.
Mrs. Holmes was born again as a child of God on August 25, 1960. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Dublin, Georgia. Her passion for serving the Lord was working through the church with children both young and old in several different ways. She was also known by many as the card lady because God gave her a spiritual gift even as a child, to care for others when they needed encouragement.
Mrs. Holmes will leave an example of how a Christian woman is supposed to live and she always gave God the glory. Her loving influence will live on in many folks, both young and old for many years to come. She will surely be missed by those people.
Funeral services will be held at New Bethel Baptist Church on Highway 257 at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 2, 2023, with burial to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ken Rodgers and Rev. Grady Mimbs will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Griffin, Johnny McGowan, Chandler Edmond, Hugh Smith, David Howard, and Ralph Jeffers.
The family of Mrs. Holmes believes that because of Jeanette's love for kids, it would be her greatest honor to be remembered by giving to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 53 Perimeter Center E. Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30346 in memory of her name instead of flowers, etc.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
