Jerry Lynward Hood

Funeral services for Jerry Lynward Hood, age 75, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, November 4, 2022, at Liberty Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Sammy Hall will officiate.

Mr. Hood was born on July 29, 1947, in Sandersville, Georgia to the late Joseph and Marie Jones Hood. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church. Jerry began working as a barber in March of 1965 for Durden Barber Shop in Swainsboro. In 1972, he opened Hair Unlimited in Wrightsville and was owner and operator until retiring in November of 2021. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Rowland Hood, and a  brother, Wadell Hood. Mr. Hood passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Fairview Park Hospital.

He is survived by his two sons, Rodney (Kristi) Hood of Swainsboro and Shannon (Katy) Hood of Wrightsville; brothers, Edwin Hood and Robert Hood of Kite; sisters, Susie Coleman of Kite and Frances Kitchens of Alabama; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. on Friday, November 4, 2022, at the church.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Herringdine, Brian McCoy, Billy Barrs, Sammy Lee, Clark Attaway and Peyton Hood.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Grove Baptist Church.

Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
