Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Alan Miller, age 79, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Oconee Baptist Church with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Rev. Kenny Rowland, Rev. Henry Dixon, Rev. William Thompson and Rev. Kelland Waldrep will officiate. Mr. Miller was born November 14, 1934, in Toomsboro, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Gideon & Ollie Mae Virginia Phillips Miller, three grandchildren, Alan Miller, Luke and Caleb Woodard and a sister, Joan Smith. He served as a deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church and Oconee Baptist Church for 55 years. Mr. Miller was a member of Oconee Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Building Committee. He was a logger, farmer, and past employee of Georgia Pacific, Smith Equipment Company and retired owner of J & N Handyman Services. Mr. Miller held two associate degrees from ABAC in Tifton, Georgia and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Miller passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Stewart Miller of Dublin, two sons, Roger (Dianne) Miller of Murray, Kentucky and Tom (Von) Miller of Irwinton, two daughters, Dyona (Jerry) Woodard of Dublin and Nancy (Craig) Smith of Danville, grandchildren, Andy Miller, Jodie Edwards, Josh Woodard, Nikki Williams, Beth Miller, Holly Smith, Chris Smith, Shawn Miller, Justin Miller, Gideon Miller, Jeremiah Viger and Eric Viger and 18 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 22, 2014 at the funeral home. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
