Memorial Services for Jimmy Adair "Jai" Sapp, age 71 will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Boiling Springs United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Benton Martin will officiate.
Mr. Sapp was born on November 27, 1943 in Dublin, Georgia. He was the son of the late James Asa and Dorothy Morgan Sapp. Mr. Sapp was a graduate of Waycross High School. After high school he received a scholarship to play baseball for North Georgia College in Dahlonega, GA. During his twenties, he followed his passion for music and toured the country as the lead singer of several bands. In December of 1972 he was married to Athalia Thomas and blessed with two daughters. He often said his greatest accomplishment was his two children.
Throughout his life he enjoyed watching and participating in athletic activities. He was an avid golfer, once scoring a hole-in-one. For many years he was a dedicated and talented bowler. He had several perfect games and was awarded many high series and high average awards. He also enjoyed card games of all types.
For many years he was a member of Boiling Springs United Methodist Church where he regularly taught Sunday school. Mr. Sapp spent countless hours preparing to teach his lessons on Sundays so that he could help others understand the scripture and get the most out of his message.
In October of 2006 he retired as the Director of Plant Operations for the Dublin Center. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling with his family, gardening, watching the Georgia Bulldogs and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Sapp passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Sapp is survived by his loving wife, Athalia Thomas Sapp of Dublin, two daughters, Kiffany Sapp (David) Hall of Jacksonville, FL, and Morgan Sapp (John) Hicks of Atlanta, a sister, Toni Shacklett of San Antonio, TX, and two grandchildren, Walker Hall and Olivia Hall. He also leaves behind many friends and relatives.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boiling Springs United Methodist Church in memory of Mr. Sapp.
