Joel Hugh Downs

JOEL HUGH DOWNS, age 53, died on August 3, 2015 after a short battle with lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara deNade Teel Downs and his aunt, Stella Norma "Patsy" Teel. Survivors include his father Mr. Jimmy Downs of Albany, Ga, his sisters, Cathy Downs Hargrove and spouse, Joe Hargrove of Canton, NC; Laurie Downs and spouse, Elizabeth Rucker, of Asheville, NC; Ellen Downs and fiance, Jim Fulford of Albany, Ga; his niece, Sara Cox and spouse James Cox of Albany, Ga; his nephew, Shaun Will of Smiths Grove, Kentucky; his great niece, Maleah Lane Cox of Albany, Ga, his girlfriend, Moriah Waseem of Dublin, Ga and a special friend, Kelly Barnett of Dublin, Ga. Joel's family would like to thank special friends Sandy Tarpley, Bob Tarpley and Mr. and Mrs. John Youket for their devotion to Joel. A service of remembrance will be held at the 24 hour AA Club House, 629 Broad Street, East Dublin, Ga., on August 22, 2015 at 6 pm. Joel's ashes will be buried at Morris Baptist Church cemetery in Morris, Ga by his immediate family at a later date.
