Joel Edwin Stone

Funeral services for T.Sgt. Joel Edwin Stone, age 83 will be held at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. Dr. Joel Dent and Rev. Wes Moye will officiate. Sgt. Stone was born October 11, 1935 in Douglas, Georgia. He was the son of the late Edwin and Minnie Courson Stone. He served in the United States Navy and United States Air Force on the Island of Guam as a Technical Sergeant. After active duty Sgt. Stone continued in the Reserves where he served faithfully 28 years and was retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center where he worked as a Nurse Assistant. He was a WWII Veteran. Sgt. Stone passed away at his residence on Sunday, May 12, 2019. Sgt. Stone is survived by his wife, Mary Neil King Stone of Dublin, by sisters Frances (Grady) Carver of Douglas and Helen Smith of Pacific Grove, California, by cousin Joel (Joyce) Dent, by niece Patricia (H.W.) Purvis and by other nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Memorial Fund of Pine Forest United Methodist Church. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
