John Calvin Otts

John Calvin Otts, M.D. passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at his home. Dr. Otts was known as a quiet man who walked gently through this life, leaving love as his footprints. Dr. Otts was born on January 21, 1949 to Sherman R. Otts and Louise Burns Otts in Augusta, GA. His childhood years were spent on the family farm in Pumpkin Center, GA where he learned to love the land and the worth of a good tractor. He graduated from Harlem High School in Harlem, GA, Augusta College in Augusta, GA, and the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA where he received his Medical Doctorate. He completed his Intern and Residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, GA. He began his medical career in Dublin, GA in 1979 at HealthCare Associates and Dublin Obstetrics and Gynecology where he practiced until his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife, Pam Soles Otts, of East Dublin, GA his mother, Louise Burns Otts of Athens his son, John Calvin Otts, Jr., and his wife Jessica of Monroe, grandchildren, Samantha Otts of Monroe and Jake Otts of Monroe, step children, Felicia (Joey) Soles, of Adrian, GA, Jerrod ( Holly) Rowland of Dexter, GA, and Justin Rowland of Adrian, GA, grandchildren in love, Meagan (Ben) Edney, Brianna (Casey) Soles, Mara Soles, Austin Rowland, Aiden Rowland, Brodie Rowland, Brayden Rowland, and Brayleigh Rowland, and sisters, Bette Sue Otts and Lois Faye Otts. In lieu of flowers the family asks in memory of Dr. Otts make a charitable donation to "Be at Peace Farms, Inc." at 725 Manning Drive, East Dublin, GA 31027 to assist with their homeless mission, a cause that Dr. Otts was very passionate about. A private memorial service for John Calvin Otts, M.D., age 68 will be held at a later date. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
