Funeral services for Mr. John M. Outlaw, Jr., age 91, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 14, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Kirk Hagan and Rev. Tucker Lewis will officiate.
Mr. Outlaw was born August 21, 1925; he was preceded in death by his parents the late, John M. Outlaw & Nina Wood Outlaw, his wife, Mattie Marjorie Oliver Outlaw, a granddaughter, Debra Kaye Ricks, a brother, Woody Outlaw and three sisters, Johnnie Mae Tanner, Lillie Neal and Estelle Moore. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Army and was the former owner and meat cutter of Outlaw's Grocery Store. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as church treasurer for a number of years. He was also a member of the American Legion and he served on the Johnson County Board of Community Health. In 1984, he was selected as the Wrightsville-Johnson County Man of the Year. Mr. Outlaw died Saturday, November 12, 2016.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Vicki (Dale) Craiger of Birmingham, AL, Tammie (Joey) Williams of Dublin, and Debbie (LaVerne) Ricks of Macon, a sister, Juliette Capshaw Neftal of Waycross, and three grandchildren, Johny Ricks, Josh Williams and Jake Williams and two great grandchildren, Hatcher and Shepherd Ricks. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren from the Birmingham, Alabama area.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the funeral home. The family will be meeting at 275 J.R. Fordham Road, Dublin, GA 31021.
Donations may be made, in memory of Mr. Outlaw, to the First United Methodist Church, 2497 West Elm Street, Wrightsville, Georgia 31096.
