Johnnie Willard Blizzard

Funeral services for Mr. Johnnie Willard Blizzard, age 93, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Liberty Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Sammy Hall will officiate. Mr. Blizzard was born May 20, 1925 in Wrightsville, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late John Maxton Blizzard and Sallie Tharpe Blizzard, a daughter, Glenda Blizzard Bailey, three brothers, Herbert Blizzard, Julian Blizzard and Robert Blizzard and a sister, Ann Wood. He was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for several years. During World War II, he worked in Savannah, Georgia helping build mine sweeps for the United States Navy. He was a longtime Johnson County farmer. Mr. Blizzard passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Tulleen Walden Blizzard of Wrightsville, two sons, Johnny W. (Sue) Blizzard, Jr. of Vidalia and James M. (Angela) Blizzard of Wrightsville, two daughters, Teresa (Terry) Blizzard Russell of Laurens, SC and Cathy Blizzard Herring of Wrightsville, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM, Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the church. Pallbearers will be Bobby Blizzard, Donald Blizzard, John Allen Rowland, Eli Rowland, Roy Powell and Sterling Eskew. Honorary escorts will include Al Rowland, Herbert Hall, Harold Ivey, Walter Price and Jimmy Bailey. Contributions, in memory of Mr. Blizzard, may be made to Liberty Grove Baptist Church, c/o/ Jeff Hall, 82 Lakeview Drive, Wrightsville, Georgia 31096. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
