Memorial Services for Johnnie Faye Raffield Taylor will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, August 23, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Dublin, Georgia. Reverend Kelly Maddox will officiate. Mrs. Taylor passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Fairview Park Hospital.
Mrs. Taylor loved the Lord, her husband Cecil, her family, and her friends. She was very patriotic and had many interests to which she was devoted. Among her interests were: traveling, reading, writing, and history. Mrs. Taylor enjoyed researching her family's history and wrote, Humble Beginnings, Proud Spirits, which documents the Raffield family ancestry. She also interviewed U.S. veterans of the greatest generation, and wrote their accounts of serving our country during World War II. Her works were published, along with other authors' accounts of this period in The Courier Herald.
Mrs. Taylor also had a soft heart for causes she supported, in particular those involving better treatment of people with disabilities and those recognizing U. S. veterans. Mrs. Taylor followed politics closely and was always informed on current events.
Mrs. Taylor lived in several locations throughout the Southeastern United States as well as Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and the Former Panama Canal Zone. She enjoyed meeting people from all over the world and learning about their customs. Her travels took her throughout the United States and to 57 countries on six continents, with many places visited multiple times.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, Cecil Taylor of East Dublin; 2 sons, Johnny (Jennifer) Tarpley of East Dublin and David (Paula) Taylor of Lake Mary, FL; 2 daughters, Wendy (Chuck) Spivey of Oakland, AR and Janet (Patrick) Ramsey of Dallas, GA; a sister, Mary Alice (Ray) Watson of Dublin; 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
