It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Johnny Edwin Webb, age 77. He was the beloved husband of Melanie Holliday Webb for 56 years, father of Sean Webb (Edyie) and Melissa Zurek.
He graduated from Kite High School and was a member of the last graduating class in 1966. He was born in Laurens County and lived here most of his life, having grown up in Johnson County. He was a member of Gethsemane Church for 52 years having served as Chairman of Trustees for many of those years, was a member of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia for many years and served as Jail Administrator and worked in law enforcement in Johnson and Laurens County. He also worked in Forestry Management. He served on Laurens County Rescue/Diving Team.
Johnny loved his church and keeping up the church cemetery, cutting the grass there and many neighbors and others who needed their grass mowed. He enjoyed woodwork and making things in his shop. He spent a large part of his life serving and loving people. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in Korea during the Vietnam Era.
Johnny is survived by his wife Melanie, son Sean (Edyie), daughter Melissa Zurek and granddaughters Mary Catherine Zurek, Kaitlyn Zurek, Bridget Zurek (Gavin Harden) and newest addition great granddaughter Lainey Mae Harden born just five days before he passed. It was his hope to live and see her after having been sick for two years. He is also survived by his sister Brenda Garnto (Stan) of Wrightsville, Aunt Carolyn Cox of Dublin, numerous nieces and nephews and family members. He will be greatly missed by his extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Willie Mae Webb, sister, Sandra Moore, Uncle Gene Cox, brother-in-law Jerry Moore, father and mother-in-law John Henry Holliday (Mary Catherine) and sister-in-law Mary Ham.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Gethsemane Church in East Dublin and burial at Gethsemane Church Cemetery on Dewey Warnock Rd. East Dublin.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, Dublin, GA.
Pastors Tommy Veal, Jimmy Sharp, Cole Morris, and Phillip Smith will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cox, Rob Garnto, Cory Parker, Heath Russell, Gavin Harden, Morgan Ham and Barclay Holliday.
Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to Gethsemane Church in East Dublin.
The family will be at the Webb residence 306 Northside Dr. East Dublin, GA.
