Funeral services for Joseph "Joe" Lafayette Burch, age 76 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Baker Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Burch Family Cemetery. Rev. Joey Diers will officiate.
Mr. Burch was born October 6, 1947, in Dublin, Georgia. He was the son of the late Joseph Lewis Burch and Mae Ellen Walker Burch Phagan. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sara Burch Pezold. He was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. Throughout his life he supported his family by working at the Golden Peanut Company, Husqvarna of McRae, and self-employed as a farmer. He loved farming, hunting, fishing, and going to his hunting camp with all of his long-time friends. He also loved spending time with family, and friends and his constant fur companion, Finley. He worked hard and could fix anything anyone needed. He was known for his great story telling around the community to his family and friends. He was a member of Baker Baptist Church. Mr. Burch passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, surrounded by family.
Mr. Burch is survived by his wife, Sandra Burch of Alamo, a son, Chad Burch of Dublin, a daughter, Ashley Burch of Alamo, a sister, Rebecca (Ollie B.) Moore of Alamo, and 2 grandchildren, C.J. Burch, and Savannah Burch.
Pallbearers will be Edison Ray Jr., Jerry Little, Jackie Oliver, Ronnie Bates, Jack Morton, and Tracy Butler.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeffery Moore, Darrell Edge, Brad Smith, Steve Johns, Ted McLaughlin, Gordon Thigpen, Ralph Angelo, Larry Brewer, Larry Golden, and Tom Pezold.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the funeral home.
