Graveside services for Joseph Herbert "Herb" Mullis, age 74, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 12, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Calvin Halcomb officiating.
Mr. Mullis was born on August 24, 1946 in Dublin, Georgia to the late Clyde and Mary Lamb Mullis. Herb paved the way for the best Quarter Horses in our area. He raised and trained multiple World Champion Barrel Horses, Futurity winners and State Champions. He always saw the potential for success in horses and people alike. He loved people and the horses in his care and dedicated his life to them and all other family members that called him Papa Herb. Herb retired from Dry Branch Kaolin and was a member of Cadwell Baptist Church. Mr. Mullis passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Fairview Park Hospital.
Mr. Mullis is survived by his daughters, Ellen Mullis (Richie) Brown of Dublin and Jodi Mullis (Jason) Warren of Dexter, and "adopted" daughter, Stephanie Horne (Dustin) Miller of Rockledge, brother, Roger (Sue Noles) Mullis of Eastman, sisters, Mercedes (Richard) Haralson of Dublin and Sheirlyn (Dave) Cox of Dacula, grandchildren, Cody (Holly) Brown, Will Brown, Maci Brown, Jaxon Clyde Warren and Emree Warren, and very special friend, Tina Sanders.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Danny Hogan, Gary Baggett, Danny "Tootsie" Johnson, Bobby Lawhorn, Herbert McTier, Carl Wise, Billy Bissett, and Gamble Shannon. Honorary pallbearers will be Susan Shuman, Janet Fields, Cindy Keen and Louise Jones.
Social Distancing guidelines will be in effect and mask will be required by those attending as we are following the guidelines of the local health district and the CDC.
