Joy Wainwright Strickland

Funeral services for Joy Wainwright Strickland, age 68, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 7, 2026, at Journey Church at Poplar Springs South with Rev. Robbie Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Strickland was born on June 1, 1958, in Dublin, Georgia. She was a retired teacher at Southwest Laurens Elementary School and was a member of Journey Church at Poplar Springs South. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Wainwright. Mrs. Strickland passed away on September 3, 2026, at her residence.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tom Strickland of Dublin; daughter, Amanda Varner (Brandt) of Boonton, NJ; son, Thomas Strickland (Emily) of Dublin; brother, Tim Wainwright (Sharon) of Newberry, FL; and 4 grandchildren, C.J. Varner, Dawkins Varner, Ella Varner and Noah Strickland.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. Monday, September 7, 2026, at Journey Church at Poplar Springs South.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Strickland, Brandt Varner, Dawkins Varner, Noah Strickland, Brian Harden and Ashley Tanner.

Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of the funeral arrangements.
