Funeral services for Jurl Lamar "Buddy" Conner, age 72, will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 18, 2022, in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Curtis Sumner officiating. Burial will be in the Double JJ Cemetery in Woodbine, Georgia.
Mr. Conner was born May 4, 1949, in Uvalda, Georgia. He was the son of the late Jurl Devond "Ted" Conner and Ida Faye Willis. He was a United States Army veteran who served his country and gave his all. He received many medals including the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Jurl was a very special person and will be missed by his special partner of 23 years and by all his family and friends and especially his animals Rocky, Roxy and Taz. You couldn't ask for a better person and he would he anybody that needed help. He lived in Darien and was a self-employed shrimper for many years before moving to Laurens County. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and shrimper. He was a very kind and loving person. Mr. Conner passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at his home.
He is survived by his loving companion of 23 years Sadie Chambers of East Dublin, two sons Robert James Conner of Savannah and Jurl Lamar Conner, II of Dublin, and three sisters Edith Algeriea Geiger of Uvalda, Betty Joyce Welchman of Woodbine, and Brenda Gail Womble of Cross Hill, SC.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home.
