Karen Pope Alvarez

Graveside services for Karen Lorraine Pope-Alvarez, age 44, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Logue-Garnto Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Koscheski officiating.

Ms. Alvarez was born on December 9, 1980, in Milledgeville, Georgia. She was a resident of South Carolina and worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. She was known for her sharp wit and vibrant spirit. She deeply loved her children and had a strong passion for sports. Prior to her passing, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ. Ms. Alvarez passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Oconee Medical Center in Seneca, SC.

She is survived by her 3 children, Alexis Alvarez of Fair Play, SC, and Jacob Lewis and Tristan Lewis both of Milledgeville, her father, Billy Pope of Milledgeville, mother, Donna (Gary) Kitchens of Milledgeville; grandmother, Joan Broome of Milledgeville; 3 sisters, Renee (Tim) Brooks of Milledgeville, Cheryl (Chuck) Hester of Eatonton and Amanda Pope of Milledgeville; and several extended family members.

Ms. Alvarez will lie in state from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Billy Pope for the Karen Alvarez Memorial Fund at Exchange Bank, 2801 N. Columbia St. Milledgeville, GA 31061.
