Funeral services for Mrs. Kate C. Harrell, age 88, will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at New Home Baptist Church with interment to follow in Westview Cemetery. Rev. Burton Dixon will officiate.
Miss Kate was born October 26, 1931 in Rhine, Georgia. She was predeceased by her one true love, her husband, William A. (Bill) Harrell; her parents, John and Sallie Conner; her sister Frances Barton; and her brother Johnny Conner. She passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at home in Woodbine, GA.
Miss Kate was a devoted wife and mother, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, and a wise, trustworthy and compassionate friend. A talented cook and seamstress, she enjoyed sharing her gifts. Choosing to work behind the scenes in church and community projects, she never made headlines, and never wanted to, but she was a positive influence on those that knew her, and enhanced their lives in ways both creative and practical.
Miss Kate had an ever-present sense of humor and a quiet wit, and was an outstanding judge of character. She had kind but effective ways to help stubborn children, frightened animals, wilting plants, and erroneous thinking, if asked her opinion.
Her most important attribute and greatest comfort was her faith in the Lord and the importance of her relationship with Jesus Christ in her life. Her family and friends will miss her sorely in this life, but have the assurance that they will all meet again one day.
She is survived by her daughter Angee (Gary) Blount, son Scott (Kristil) Harrell, son Conner (Stacey) Harrell, fourteen grandchildren and spouses, fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Bonnie Conner, one brother-in-law, Rabun Harrell, nieces and nephews, and several dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be William Harrell, William Blount, Hampton Blount, Alex Blount, Leonard Miller and Sam Von Holton.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to New Home Church Benevolent Fund, c/o Kay Harrison, 503 Fortner Rd, Kite, GA 31049.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
