Kathie Lindsey Foskey, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024, with her husband by her side. She had been surrounded with the love and devotion of her children as well as her extended family and friends throughout the preceding weeks …. until God saw fit to call her home. She was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church where she served as pianist as well as a gifted alto singer. During her younger years she often sang duets with her husband in church services as well as with a quartet known as The Gospel Sowers. Two of her greatest simple joys each week were preparing a Tuesday night meal for her son to stop by, eat, and visit AND a 9:00 call each night from her daughter to check on her day. In recent years she developed a fondness of carving figurines from wood. Her family and home were her life!
Mrs. Foskey was born April 20, 1953, to the (late) Ernest Lindsey and Mrs. Lois Clements Lindsey Poole where she spent her childhood in Wrightsville, Georgia. She was a graduate of Johnson County Class of 1971. She furthered her education with post-secondary studies in Medical Assistant-Lab Training offered through the VA in Dublin, Georgia, living in a dorm on site. On her graduation day, she also married her sweetheart, Jack Roger Foskey, and moved from the city to the country and began a new chapter of life on the family farm. Lucky for her she worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Evans in the medical field and Dr. Fason and Dr. Zetterower in the dental field for many years and not much farm work.
Her life and legacy will be cherished and remembered by her husband of 51 years, Jack Foskey. Her children whom she lived for each day: Jay Foskey (Robyn) of Kite, and Katrina Foskey Bell (Aaron) of Gray. Her Grandchildren who call her "Grammy": Nikki Wiggins (Brandon), Jackson Bell, Kohen Bell. Great- grandchildren: Coleman Wiggins, Tate Wiggins, and Abel Jay Wiggins. One sister, Becky Lindsey of Wrightsville.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Foskey, age 70 will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in the Richard N. Stanley, Jr. Memorial Chapel Church with Dr. Roger Byrd officiating, and music by Dr. Trent Herring. Burial will follow in the Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stevie Clements, Stanley Clements, Michael Clements, Tim Herring, Tyler Herring, Andy Poole. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Foskey's grandsons, Jackson Bell and Kohen Bell.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 -1:45 prior to the service or after the service at the family home of Jack & Kathie Foskey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bay Springs Baptist Church.
