Graveside funeral services for Kay Frances Avery, age 73 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Kevin Tanner, Rev. Jimmy Wright, and Mr. Robert Screws will officiate.


Mrs. Avery was born August 13, 1950, in Glenwood, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Lauvernia Alligood Screws. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Frederick Avery, a brother, Jerry Screws, a sister, Judy Gail Screws, a grandchild, Joeli Thompson, and a fiancé, William Gilbert "Buddy" Haskins. She retired from Community Mental Health where she proudly served for 32 years. She was a member of Brewton Baptist Church. Mrs. Avery passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, at her residence.


Mrs. Avery is survived by her 2 daughters, Mary Beth (Marty) Thompson of Wrightsville, and Laura Kay Claxton (Sean) of Dublin; 3 brothers, Robert "Junior" (Julie) Screws of Lyons, Ronnie (Earline) Screws of Glenwood, and Virgil Screws of Deland, FL; 2 sisters, Sandy Burroughs of Oswego, NY, and Mabre Johnson of Dublin; and 5 grandchildren, Emily (Chad) Wyatt, Avery Thompson, Landry Thompson, Alley Claxton, and Cole Claxton, and 2 great-grandchildren, Robert Thompson Wyatt, and Honey James Wyatt.


The employees of Community Mental Health are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.


The family will receive friends at the Avery Residence, 309 Crestview Dr, East Dublin, Georgia after the graveside services.


Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
