Funeral services for Larry Clark Powell, Sr., age 85, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Union Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Chad Drew will officiate.
Mr. Powell was born March 5, 1937, in Wrightsville, Georgia. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. He worked as a logger and farmer and was named "Soil Conservationist Man of the Year". He is preceded in death by his parents Gaston Lafaette Powell and Nancy Ola Frost Powell-Harrell, a daughter Leah Powell, siblings, Lowell, Glenn, Troy, Lamar, Milton, Hazel, and Mildred, and stepdad Theo Harrell.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Kathryn Jordan Powell of Wrightsville, 3 sons Larry Powell (Carol Ann), Lloyd Powell (T.J.) and Loran Powell (Brandy) all of Wrightsville, 6 grandchildren Tyler Powell, Danielle Fulghum (Austin), Kaitlyn Foskey (Dalton), Kylie Powell, Karlee Powell, and Ansley Powell, and 2 great grandchildren Alex and Joseph Fulghum.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. to 2:45 P.M. on Sunday prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Powell, Austin Fulghum, Dalton Foskey, Chris Powell, Chris Jordan, Jottie Burgamy, and Mike Fisher. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Herringdine, Sammy Keyton, Thomas Powell, and the deacons of Union Hill Baptist Church.
