Laurie Ann Duffield Kent, "Sweetpea," (59) She was preceded in death by her late son Anthony John Wainio Giles, both parents, father Clinton Gerald Duffield "Jack" and mother Marilyn Jean Reigle Duffield "Bones". Laurie was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in Cumberland County on October 6, 1962 at 12:05 P.M. Laurie grew up in Anna Maria Island, Florida until the family moved to East Dublin, Georgia in 1976. Laurie was a Licensed Practical Nurse by profession but there was nothing "practical" about her! She touched the lives of everyone she met! She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Melton Kent, Jr. (51), of East Dublin, Georgia, (sister) Jean Marie Duffield Hammond (60) also of East Dublin and (brothers) Gary John Duffield and John Richard Duffield. She has two sons, James Paul Giles, Jr. (40) and daughter-in-law, Jamie Mimbs Giles (43) of Wrightsville, Georgia, Alan Thomas Giles (38) and daughter-in-law Gabrielle Franks Giles (39) of Tennille, Georgia. She has 3 grandchildren, Ellie Kate Giles (12), Joe Alan Giles (8), and Maggie Elizabeth Giles (6) and 2 step grandchildren Charley Victoria Hall (23) and Emily Nichole Hall (22), her father-in-law Melton Kent, Sr. (74) and mother-in-law Brenda Faye Kent (66) of Blythe, Georgia and sister-in-law Martha Jean Duffield (59) of Gordon, Alabama. Laurie leaves behind an extended family and friends from Nursing facilities here in Dublin, Wrightsville, Aiken County South Carolina Sheriff's Office and Johnson State Prison in Wrightsville, Georgia. Laurie loved the beach above all, fishing, gardening, working with the elderly, and spending time with her grandchildren. She entered into rest on April 15, 2022, at 4:10 P.M. while at home under Hospice Care. A private service will be held at a later date. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
