Linda Sue Garner

Linda Sue Garner , 78, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Feb 19th, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She is free and at peace.

Linda was born on Dec 14th, 1947 in Boone, NC. To Louise Herold. She came to live with her aunt and uncle, Ezra and Florence Porter at the age of three. She was soon adopted and became part of the Porter family. She graduated from Dublin High School in 1965.

Her work career spanned some 43 years rising to administrative assistant to the CEO of the company. She was the last person to leave the company after 60 years of operation in Dublin.

She married Jim Garner in July of 1969. They welcomed a son in Dec 1970 , and a daughter in March of 1985. Both were their pride and joy.

She also was known for her poetry , often done for friends and family , and special occasions. She even wrote one for an Atlanta Braves announcer for a special occasion.

She was funny , kind and compassionate to everyone. She never met a stranger and always offered a helping hand.

She was active in her church life , spanning over 50 years. She taught Sunday School for 47 years , sang in the choir , and various other duties along the way. Always faithful in her service to the Lord , she was known to help others, with a caring touch. She touched countless lives along the way, never accepting reward or praise. She was known for her kind heart and humble spirit. Her loving spirit touched those around her and brought smiles to faces. She was known to be a doer of the word, not just a hearer. Her generosity helped many lives through the years. Her life was hallmarked by obedience and sacrifice to her Lord, Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years , Jim Garner , her parents Ezra and Florence Porter.

She is survived by her children , Jimmy Garner ( Sharon ), and Laurie Garner , and one grandson Caleb Garner.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 22, 2026 in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel, with interment to follow at Northview Cemetery. Rev. Max Rodgers will offiicate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Garner , Ken Allen , Eli Holmes , Paul Holmes, Jeff Porter, and Richie Porter.
