With the greatest sadness, her family shares the news of the death of Lisa Michelle Gornto Cauley. She Died on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the age of 53.
But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
Lisa was born on February 14, 1967. She was the miracle her parents waited so long for and remained a blessing to them her entire life. She was soft-spoken, but unparalleled, in humility, and humanity. She graduated from Dublin High School in 1985. On May 14, 1988, Lisa married Kelvin Cauley. They created a family and home that was anchored in love, grace, and acceptance.
Lisa loved traveling with her family, enjoying a week in Paris, cruises to the Bahamas, restful weekends in the mountains, and jet setting to New York City. She was a great reader and an active member of her book club. She loved concerts and live music. Lisa was a member of Minter Baptist Church. Her most treasured time, though, was as a grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Kelvin Brett Cauley; daughters, Ashley (Nate), Kellie (Lee), and son, George Brett; granddaughters, Magnolia-Mae and Iris, and grandson, Theodore Baker; and her parents, George and France Jackson Gornto. She is preceded in death by her aunt, Rachel Gornto Branch.
Lisa's life was extended by the incredibly generous gift of organ donation from Haley Moore and her family. Because of Haley's gift, Lisa enjoyed 13 more years of life and memories with her family.
"Always remember there was nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name." In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lisa's name to Donate Life.
An open-air graveside service will be held Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Minter Baptist Church Cemetery on 940 Bush Road in Minter, Georgia. Masks required and will be provided if you come without one. Those who are not feeling well are asked to stay home out of respect for the family.
