Lorene Wingate May

Graveside funeral services for Lorene Wingate May, 97, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta, Georgia. Mr. Thurmon Foskey will officiate.

Ms. May was born on June 5, 1925, in Valdosta, Georgia to Jessie and Mary Eldridge Nance. Ms. May lived in Wrightsville and was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church. When she wasn't working as a homemaker, she worked side by side with her late husband, Jack Wingate, in his hardware business, Wingate Auto and Home Supply. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Sue Wingate Price, son, James Wingate, sisters, Ella Jo Davidson and Irene Bruner, brother, Ralph Nance, and her second husband, Emory May. Ms. May passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Washington County Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Suzette Price (Dan) Crowden of Tennille, great grandson, Zachary Lindsey of Sandersville, and her niece, Peggy Todd of Bonaire.
