Louis Holton Jr

Louis Holton Jr., 88, of Chester went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Funeral will be Friday, March 6, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Dexter, Ga. with burial to follow in Westview Cemetery, Wrightsville. Louis was born on June 20, 1931 in Johnson County, Ga. He began work at Hooks Gas Station by pumping gas. He later worked at J.P. Stevens/Forstman and retired from P&L Garment Factory at the age of 62. He is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Holton. Louis was a loving daddy and papa. He loved to hold, play and spoil his grandchildren and showered them with loved from birth to his death. He enjoyed being outdoors by working in the yard and cutting grass. He also enjoyed taking care and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always loved the color red. Louis was a member and deacon of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, but most of all, he loved the Lord, Jesus Christ. Louis was a loving, kindhearted soul and very patient man. He loved the Lord and his church and was always ready to serve when he was able. He enjoyed the trips for "Builders for Christ" and at "VBS" he would help in the kitchen each year. Louis was loved by so many and will be missed very much. Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Mike) Harper of Cadwell; grandchildren, Karen (Sam) Rogers of Chester, Lee (Mindy) Harper of Cadwell; great grandchildren, Holden Rogers and Shelden Rogers both of Chester, Madison Harper and Luke Harper, both from Cadwell; his children's mother, Sadie Walker Chambers of East Dublin; brother, Bobby (Ann) Holton of East Dublin and several nieces and nephews. Lee Harper, Bill Barrs, Dean Harrell, Robert Hester, Mick Malone and Todd Weeks will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Braswell, Rondy Bryan, Tommy Butler, Heath Harrell, Doyle Holt and Wayne Warren. The family will receive friends with a visitation on Thursday, March 5, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at 2605 Mt. Carmel Church Rd. Dexter, GA 31019. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
