Madonna Dora Garnto Carter

Madonna Dora Garnto Carter, of Jenks, Oklahoma, went to heaven on Wednesday morning, March 16, 2022. She was privileged to live 96 years, 6 months, and 16 days. Madonna was born on August 27, 1925, to Joseph Daniel Garnto and Bessie Pearl Garnto in Wrightsville, Georgia. Her parents were farmers and she worked hard helping her dad tend the fields, helping to support her family. She was privileged to have four brothers and four sisters who all preceded her in death. Madonna was married to the Rev. Earnest Carter who also preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Glinda (John), from Jenks, Oklahoma, and one son, Bill (Judy) from Summerville, South Carolina. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Brian Williamson (Ginger), Austin, Texas, Renee Huffaker (Kevin), Bixby, Oklahoma, and Daniel Carter (Dee Dee), Aiken, South Carolina, and five great grandchildren, Carley, Kenzie, Bryce, Skye, and Saylor. She loved dearly her special friend, a toy poodle, named Layla. Over fifty years of her life were spent being a dedicated pastor's wife. She possessed the gifts of love and service and was always eager to lend to others a helping hand. One of her oft used sayings was, "Need a little help!" The last nine weeks of Madonna's life was at the Glenwood Nursing Center where she quickly became a "favorite" resident. She was known by the phrase, "I love you!" No matter who came in to see her, she always said to them, "I love you." Her last known spoken phrase was to her granddaughter, Renee. saying, "I love you." On Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., a time of visitation, will take place at the Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene in Wrightsville, Georgia, followed by a memorial service at noon. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A "potluck" Garnto Family reunion will follow internment in the church fellowship area. A memorial service will be announced at the Asbury Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Madonna was an active member of the Faithbuilders Community. A special thanks to Miller Hospice and to the Glenwood Healthcare for their special love, attention, and care. Also, to Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, Tulsa, OK, and Stanley Funeral Service, Dublin, GA for their services. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel is in charge of the local arrangements.
