Marcia Kay Owensby

Funeral services for Marcia Kay Ivey Owensby, age 80, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Wrightsville First Methodist Church with Mr. Ralph Veal officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.

Marcia Kay was born on April 29, 1945, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Marcus and Kate Veal Ivey. She was a 1963 graduate of Wrightsville High School and was a retired secretary for W. F. Jackson Construction Company. She was a member of Wrightsville First Methodist Church; where she was active in United Methodist Women, the church choir, was a member of the Fellowship Class throughout her life and attended Christian Women Connection. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, trips to the beach and spending time with her family. Marcia Kay passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William Jerome (Jerry) Owensby, Sr. of Wrightsville; her children, William Jerome (Jay) Owensby, Jr. (Ann) of Hoschton and Melissa Owensby Poynter (Jeff) of Suwanee; sister, Sue Thompson of Wrightsville; 6 grandchildren, Abby Gomez (Andrés), Katie Hay (Max), Maddie Carr (Tyler), Cassie Reimund (Paul), Riley Poynter and Lexi Owensby; 8 great grandchildren; and nephews, Marc Thompson (Lisa) of Dacula and Gary Burgamy (Sandy) of Dublin.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Marc Thompson, Ken Bray, Robert Veal, Hugh Veal, Bruce Veal and Reid Ivey.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of the funeral arrangements.
