Marcus Hobbs

Funeral services for Mr. Marcus Cecil "Pocketbook" Hobbs, age 76, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at East Dublin DaySpring Worship Center with interment to follow at the Hobbs Family Cemetery. Rev. Curt Poole will officiate. Mr. Hobbs was born May 26, 1940 in Cumming, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Frank & Lois Mitchell Hobbs, wife Betty Soles Hobbs, a son, Joey Hobbs and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Hobbs has made his home in Laurens County for the past 30 years. He was known as a prankster and for keeping his family and friends happy and entertained. He retired as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator for Holmes Farms. Mr. Hobbs passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016. He is survived by his son, Randy (Denise) Hobbs of Kite, a daughter, Paula Hobbs (Kevin) Joiner of East Dublin, a brother, Johnny (Beth) Hobbs of Luthersville, four sisters, Essie (Frank) Loftin of Luthersville, Mary Armor of Griffin, Lucille Chancellor of Ocala, FL and Jane (Bill) Henry of Perry, a daughter in law, Donna Hobbs of East Dublin, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday, July 29, 2016 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Joey Hobbs, Jr., Jeffrey Hobbs, Mark Hobbs, Shane Hobbs, Matt Hobbs, Dustin Soles, Justin Soles and Kevin Soles. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
