Graveside funeral services for Marilyn Mae Samples Rawls, age 94 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Boiling Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Barbara Nelson and Rev. Don King will officiate.
Mrs. Rawls was born November 23, 1926, in Dublin, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Beulah Hardeman and Doris Della Jackson Samples. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Horrie Rawls, Jr. She was a graduate of Dublin High School. She was a grade mother for many years, and a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of Boiling Springs United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bridge Club. She was a shining example for all to follow. Her heart was pure, others always came first, and she led by example. She was always happiest when doing for others. She loved serving her family, friends, and community. Mrs. Rawls passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, at her residence surrounded by family.
Mrs. Rawls is survived by her 2 daughters, Janet Rawls Smith and her husband, Gerald Smith, Jr. and Pam Rawls Smith and her husband, Ron Smith, 3 grandchildren, Reagan Smith Morris and her husband Willie Morris, George Gerald Smith, III and his wife Sarah Smith, and Ronald Colbert Smith, and 3 great-grandchildren, Frances Alston Morris, Charlotte Lacy Morris, and Molly Kelsey Smith.
Pallbearers will be George Smith, Cole Smith, Willie Morris, Rawls Neville, and Parrish Neville. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Kight and Stuart Stanley.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Serenity Hospice and Caring Companions as well as to Mrs. Rawls special caregivers, Lisa Harrell, Dora Davis, Martha Washington, Geraldine James, and Stephanie O'Quinn.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Rawls to Boiling Springs United Methodist Church in c/o Jo Jackson at 891 N. Peachtree Road, East Dublin, GA 31027, or to Agape Serenity Hospice at 520 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA 31021.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Boiling Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
