Mary Lizzie Bethel

Mrs. Mary Lizzie Kersey Bethel of Brewton, Georgia passed away on November 17, 2024. She was born June 1, 1938, in Kite, Georgia to Cephus and Gertrude Kersey.

She is survived by her children, Delbert Wayne Bethel Jr. (Debra), Robert Lyle Bethel (Paula), her son-in-law, Steve Warnock, her grandchildren, Shannon Miller (Casey), Shawn Warnock (Janine), Bethany Davis (Brian), Derek Bethel (Heather), Matthew Bethel (Lauren), Brandy White (Scotty), Brandon Wynn (Alicia), William Todd (Lindsey), Wade Todd (Ashley), 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews , all of whom she loved dearly. Also surviving are her siblings, Wanell Miller, Annette Claxton (Billy), and Janet Cormany.

Mrs. Bethel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, Delbert Wayne Bethel Sr., her daughter, Brenda Bethel Warnock, her brother, GC Kersey, and her sisters Eva Green, Iva Lee Johnson, and Mattie Lord.

Mary was a devoted member of Wrightsville Church of the Nazarene and served for over 30 years as an Elementary Sunday School teacher. She was known for being a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt. All her family loved to spend time with her and hear her many wonderful stories about growing up in Johnson County.

Services for Mrs. Bethel will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Wrightsville Church of Nazarene at 2 PM. Visitation will be held for one hour before from 1 PM to 2 PM.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial at Garnto-Logue Cemetery will follow the services.
