Mary Magdalene Thompson Flynn, known lovingly as Mary Thompson Flynn, of Adrian, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
Mary was born on June 6, 1951, in Lima, Ohio, to Florence Stewart Thompson and Robert Thompson Sr.
She married Aurelius Flynn Jr. in Jericho, Tennessee, and they resided for a time in Lexington, Kentucky. Throughout her life, Mary held several positions, working in roles ranging from construction to home health care. In every role, she brought dedication, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others.
Mary was a woman who truly loved life. She had a gift for making people feel welcome—she never met a stranger and treated everyone like family. If she could help you, she would. Her kindness, generosity, and open heart touched countless lives.
She was deeply devoted to her family and friends, and her home was often filled with laughter, music, and celebration. Mary was known for throwing some of the best parties—joyful gatherings that brought people together and created lasting memories.
Music was her passion—it was her art. She loved to sing, and her voice carried the joy she felt in her heart. One cherished memory is how she would sing and dance, and when she noticed her child watching, she would pretend to hold a microphone and hand it over, inviting them to sing along with her—moments filled with love, playfulness, and connection.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Florence Stewart Thompson and Robert Thompson Sr.; her son, Scott Alexander Thompson; her siblings, Robert and Carmel; and her in-laws, Aurelius Flynn Sr., Ruby Pearl Flynn, and Javita Flynn.
