Funeral services for Ms. Mary Theo Wainwright, age 90 will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Poplar Springs South Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Randy Wainright and Rev. Alvin Lewis will officiate.
Ms. Wainwright was born January 19, 1929 in Nahunta, Georgia. She worked as a registered nurse at Carl Vinson V.A. Medical Center in Dublin and at Malcom Randall V.A. Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida where she retired. She was a member of Poplar Springs South Baptist Church and had lived in Laurens County since 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse Olin Wainright and Allie Thrift. Ms. Wainwright died Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Serenity Hospice.
Ms. Wainwright is survived by a daughter Joy (Tom) Strickland of Dublin, by a son Tim (Sharron) Wainwright of New Berry, Florida, by a brother John (Glenda) Wainright of Nahunta, by sisters Florrie Wainright and Dorothy Justice, both of Nahunta, by four grandchildren Amanda (Brantley) Varner, Thomas (Emily) Strickland, Jesse Wainwright, and Cara Wainwright, by four great grandchildren C.J. Varner, Dawkins Varner, Ella Varner, and Noah Strickland, and by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Poplar Springs South Baptist Church in care of Robin Couey, 994 Roy Bracewell Road, Dublin, Georgia 31021.
