Mavis Smith Bland

Funeral services for Mrs. Mavis Smith Bland, age 91, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Kelly Maddox will officiate. Mrs. Bland was born January 3, 1926 in Dublin, Georgia; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late Robert Lee Smith & Florrie Hartley Smith and her husband, Earl Robert Bland. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and was retired from the Laurens County Board of Education as a bus monitor. Mrs. Bland passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017. She is survived by her sons, Ted (Iris) Bland, Edwin Bland, Sr., and Kenneth (Gail) Bland all of East Dublin and Wayne (Connie) Bland of Dublin, 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday, January 6, 2017 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Edwin Bland, Jr., Eric Bland, Robbie Bland, Patrick Perry, Stephen Perry, Stephen Browning, Lee Wadell, Daniel Knight, Nick Foster and Stacy Strickland. Stanley Funeral Home & Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
