Michael "Mike" David Couey

Michael (Mike) David Couey passed away on August 24, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born in Laurens County on May 11, 1957, to the late Cleo H. Couey and the late Sarah Jane Dominy Couey.

After many years owning Couey Wood Service, he had retired and continued managing the farm working with beef cattle and hay production. Mike enjoyed being with family and friends, especially when a meal was involved. He was a generous benefactor who helped those in need.

God, family, and friends were important to Mike. He was a member of the Bethsaida Baptist Church and enjoyed his Men's Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife, Julia "Skeeter" of Dudley, his son, Michael (Elizabeth) Couey and daughter, Kelly (Mike) Eley all of Dublin; step-daughters, Lori (Paul) Williams of Sylvester, GA, and Jill (Rick) Pavesich of Dublin. Grandchildren include Dyllon (Kris) Couey and Dustin Couey of Dublin; Evan Ellis and Emma Ellis of Dublin, Jackson Tipton of Savannah, Jarrett (Shayla) Tipton of Gulfport, MS, Ashton Williams, Leea Williams, and James Raymond of Sylvester; Riley Hutcheson and Arlie Hutcheson of Dublin, and Connor Pavesich and Haleigh (Bailey) Pittman of Eastman and great-grandson, James Couey, of Dublin.

Other survivors include sisters, Martha Artis of Chumuckla, FL, Mary Sue Ward of Adel, and Melinda Dulmage of Georgetown. Many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. He was predeceased by his parents, Cleo H. Couey and Sarah Jane Dominy Couey; his brothers, Billy Couey, Randall Couey, and Jimmy Couey, and one sister Betty Couey Haggard.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Bethsaida Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Frankie Mathis will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Bethsaida Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Couey, Jerry Fordham, Louis Ward, Foster Couey, Bubby Lord, and Larry Dean.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Curry, John Kowtko, George Kowtko, Jordan Couey, Harold Currie, Red Mobley, and members of the breakfast and supper clubs.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mike to Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 2519 US Highway 80 West, Dublin, GA 31021.
