Mitchell Ray Gibbs was born on September 14, 1952 in Ocilla, GA of the late John Peterson Gibbs and the late Ethell Aultman Gibbs and entered eternal glory on April 14, 2022. He grew up in Gordon, GA and graduated from Wilkinson County High School in 1970 and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Ray worked in the lab at Freeport and Engelhard Kaolin companies and was also an electrician. Ray was passionate about the outdoors and had a unique combination of wisdom and sense of humor creating many friendships over the years. Ray spent his later years fishing on the coast with his family, hanging with his fiancé, Patsy Crosby, and being "big daddy" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cherry Dupree of Seattle, WA. Ray is survived by his brother John P. Gibbs Jr. of Watkinsville, GA and sister Maple Lynn Gibbs of Milledgeville, GA; his children Joshua Ray Gibbs (Dana), Elizabeth Gibbs Powell (Jay), Jonathan Lewis Gibbs (LaJoy); his grandchildren Lauren Chambers, Rachel Gibbs, Logan Gibbs, Justin Powell, Molly Gibbs, Gabriel Gleaton, Isaac Gleaton, Will Gibbs, Lucy Ray, Matt Gibbs, Laney Ray, Brett Gibbs, Mason Powell, Amelia Gibbs, Samuel Reid Gibbs; his great-grandchildren Mya Chambers, Eva Chambers, Ivy Chambers and Isabella Ray Mascaro. There will be a memorial service for friends and family on Thursday April 28 at 3:00 pm in Dublin at Liberty Church 900 Hillcrest Parkway. Instead of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Liberty Baptist Church in Dublin. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
