Funeral services for Myrtice Nelson Williams, age 85 will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 10, 2017 in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel, with interment to follow at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Wes Moye and Dr. Joel Dent will officiate.
Mrs. Williams was born on July 6, 1931 in McIntyre, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Marion Henry and Nellie Virginia Horton Nelson. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Annie B. Temples, her husband, Charles Arlington "Buddy" Williams, and 6 siblings, Marion Albert Nelson, Lamar Nathan Nelson, Floyd Columbus "F.C" Nelson, Bennie Wilburn Nelson, Henry Leonard "H.L." Nelson, and Rufus Edwin Nelson. She was retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, and was also a homemaker. She was a charter member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church where she was a member of Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Williams passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Fairview Park Hospital.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her 2 sons, Lex Alan Williams of Dublin, and Jay Nelson Williams of Statesboro, a sister, Melba Nelson Veal of Dublin, 4 grandchildren, Ashley (Jordan) Smith, Sara Kathryn Williams, Joshua Alan Williams, and Josiah Charles Williams, and an adopted daughter and beloved friend, Thelma Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Williams's nephews, Dana Patisaul, Phillip Patisaul, Larry Nelson, Lamar Nelson, Wayne Cromer, Frank Kawulich, and Buck Carter.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene Stewart, Don Williams, Tommy Williams, Wayne Hutcheson, Carl Avery, and Alvin Williams.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Williams to Pine Forest United Methodist Church at 400 Woods Avenue, Dublin, GA 31021.
