Mrs. Nina Pearl Kitchens, age 95, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, at Greenwood Place Retirement Home.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Rick Tooley will officiate.
Mrs. Kitchens was born August 28, 1923 in Dublin, Georgia; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late Richard Mose Walker and Effie Nina Garnto Walker, her husband, John Dent Kitchens and two sisters, Cleo Kyzer and Lois Scarborough. She was a graduate of Dublin High School and was a lifelong resident of Johnson County. She was a seamstress by trade, who retired from Apparelcraft Industries. She did alterations, made women's clothes and men's pants. Known for her artistic abilities, she did lots of pencil drawings and made many Christmas yard decorations. She was also a great cook.
She is survived by her daughter, Kyle (Frank) Jackson of Warner Robins, two grandchildren, Jennifer (Paul) Oglesby of Madison, and Eric (Jennifer) Jackson of Centerville, five great-grandchildren, Emily Oglesby, Brooklyn Jackson, Jacob Oglesby, John Carl Jackson and Caleb Jackson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until hour at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions, in memory of Mrs. Kitchens, be made to Serenity Hospice, 520 Hillcrest Avenue, Dublin, Georgia 31021, the Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter, 1925 Century Boulevard NE, Suite 10, Atlanta, Georgia 30345-3315 or to your favorite charity.
