Norman Joseph Stuckey
January 29, 1933-March 3, 2025
Cadwell Georgia
Norman Joseph Stuckey Jr., better known as Billy, of Cadwell, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 3, 2025 surrounded by his family and loved ones. He passed peacefully at 92 years old after battling congestive heart failure, a true testament to his strength and a gift of life after experiencing a massive heart attack in 1988. This blessing of an extra 37 years of life gave him a new perspective and many opportunities to show love and generosity to those around him.
Billy was married to Almaleen Mullis Stuckey, also of Cadwell, from July 4, 1953 to the time of her death on September 5, 2019. They had two sons, Mike and Tim. The legacy he left in his family started with Billy and Almaleen and has multiplied to 31 people, including 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Billy is preceded in death by his parents Norman Joseph Stuckey Sr. and Allene Stuckey, and siblings Montene Fordham, Mildred Jordan, Merle Stuckey, Milton "Skeeter" Stuckey, and Marjorie Rhodes, along with his wife of 66 years Almaleen Mullis Stuckey. He is survived by son Mike (Carey Lynne) Stuckey, Amanda Stuckey, Mallory (Garrett) Thorington and their four children, Michael (Kim) Stuckey; Tim (Katrina) Stuckey, Shelley (Russ) Tanner and their four children, Kristin (Craig) Moses and their five children, Timothy (Allie Beth) Stuckey and their three children. He also has numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Billy grew up in Cadwell, GA, the son of Norman Joseph Stuckey Sr. and Allene Stuckey, one of six children. Before joining the Army, he was the valedictorian of his high school graduating class. He served in the U. S. Army 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles. After his service, he worked at Robins Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic. His skill and ability led to promotions to become a Contracting Officer, buying weapons systems and parts. He was incredibly handy and knew how to build almost anything, teaching others how to do it and doing many home improvement projects for others. In his spare time, he had a Christmas Tree farm that he meticulously groomed and cared for until it was time for families to come buy their perfect Christmas tree. He also enjoyed making wreaths to sell along with those trees. Billy loved taking his sons and grandchildren to the Masters on the tickets he shared with a good friend. There are many fun memories from those trips!
Billy grew up attending Middle Ground Baptist Church, riding in a mule-pulled wagon. He was baptized there in a nearby creek. Billy and Almaleen raised their boys in Cadwell Baptist Church, where many of the Stuckey family attended for years. Billy served as a Deacon and did many acts of service for those in the community. Later in life, after moving from Cadwell to Dublin, they attended Dudley Baptist Church. He was never without a toothpick, handkerchief, and chapstick. Throughout his life, he and Almaleen made every effort to show up to any event his grandchildren participated in, no matter what it was and how big or small their role was. Following the death of his beloved Almaleen, Billy moved into Magnolia Estates in Oconee County, currently known as The Grove, where he quickly became a favorite among the staff and other residents. Known to them as Norman, Mr. Stuckey, Stuckey Stuck, Stuckey, and Handsome, he spent the last 5 years of his life charming them with his kindness, generosity, witty comments, and love to those around him. Just a few weeks ago, he was named Valentine's King of the Grove!
