Owen Monroe Shepard Jr.

Funeral service for Mr. Owen Monroe Shepard Jr., age 77, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Matthew Haywood will officiate. Mr. Shepard was born October 23, 1941 in Dublin, Georgia. He was the son of the late Owen Monroe and Doris Pridgen Shepard. He is also preceded in death by his sister Joyce Shepard Boone. He has lived in Laurens County, Georgia for the past 29 years coming from Tallahassee, Florida where he was the owner of Owen Shepard Builders. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a Loving Husband and Father that never used the words "I Can't". He served in the United States Air Force for 6 years where he was an Airman 1st class. He and his wife moved back to Dublin in 1990 and went to work as a construction supervisor for Lentile Construction until his retirement. Mr. Shepard passed away Friday, September 13, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Shepard is survived by his wife Merita Shepard of East Dublin, a daughter, Regina Lynn Shepard (Owen Shadowen) of Murfreesboro, TN, and a brother, Larry Shepard (Vickie) of Dublin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Scott Shepard, Matt Shepard, Eric Shepard, Owen Shadowen, Tim Lentile, and Hugh Lentile. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
