Funeral services for Mr. Phillip Alva Manning, age 63, will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory with burial to follow at Manning Family Cemetery.
Mr. Manning was born May 12, 1950, in Dublin, Georgia. He was the son of the late Allison "Harlow", Sr. and Ruby Pharis Manning. He was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, friend and most of all grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and picking them up from school. He was a member of Centerville Baptist Church. He was retired the Georgia National Guard Dublin/Eastman Unit where he served during Desert Storm. He was also retired from the Laurens County Works Department. He graduated from Nashville Auto Diesel College, and was a 1969, graduate of Dudley High School. He was a retired auto mechanic.
Mr. Manning is survived by his son, Jason Patrick Manning of Dublin, daughter, Julie Anne (Dan) Hooks of Dublin, a brother Al (Judy) Manning, 2 sisters Charlottee (Jimmy) Harrell of Milledgeville, Mary Ann (C.W.) Wall of Dublin, 3 grandchildren Linc Hooks, Maddie Hooks, and Jax Manning, and, nieces and nephews, Chris Perry, Emily Peterson, Allison Sellers, Aaron Manning, Jay Harrell, Lee Harrell, Kimber Lewis, Kris Lewis, and Paige Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Shephard, Rodney Dykes, Victor Adams, Tim Passamore, Mitch Fulford, Patrick Johnson, Lee Harrell, John Sellars, Cody Lord, Pace Tyson, Eric Vickers, Freeman Shepard.
Honorary pallbearers will be the full time National Guard OMS #14.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
