Polly Jane Sumner Brinson, age 87, born and raised in Johnson County, passed away peacefully October 23, 2018. Cherished by all who knew her, she was a sweet, compassionate Christian to the end. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Ervin Angus Brinson and her parents, Robert Eugene Sumner and Zemmie Tyson Sumner.
She is survived by her children, Mike E. (Frieda) Brinson of Wrightsville, Susan B. (Carl) Stanley of Gordon and Phil G. (Denise) Brinson of Irwinton, her grandchildren who loved her dearly, Carla L. (Bryan) Sappe, Ben L. (Jill) Stanley, Melissa C. (Jason) Sikorski and Tyler Brinson, her great-grandchildren, her special blessings, Gannon, Griffin and Graleigh Sappe, Abigail and John Michael Sikorski and Carley and Chandler Stanley.
Homemaking was her hallmark and she loved helping others. A lifelong learner and proponent of being "well rounded", she enjoyed being the librarian at the Harley Fulford Library in Wrightsville for many years. She loved her church and faithfully served as the communion steward for many years. She took great pride in keeping those white linens starched, ironed and perfect for each service.
Prior to her death, though she had not spoken for months, Polly gave individual blessings to those around her. Her kindness and sweet disposition, her beautiful smile, the ever-present desire to help others, and three faith-filled children are her legacy. Family and friends "rise up and call her blessed."
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Westview Cemetery with Rev, Kirk Hagan officiating.
