Funeral services for Mr. Randall Wayne (Chico) Bruce, age 63, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Bluewater Baptist Church with interment to follow at 1:30 P.M. at Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Rev. Gene Hemingway and Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate. Mr. Bruce, affectionately known as "Poppie" by his grandchildren, was born March 20, 1951 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, the late Bo Bruce and a brother, Larry Bruce. He was a member of the Laurens County Sportsman's Club and attended Bluewater Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served proudly with the United States Army. He was also the owner/operator of Bruce Battery Sales. Mr. Bruce passed away Monday, July 21, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Bruce of Dexter, his mother, Geneva Wehunt Dykes of Dexter, a son, Carey Allen Jackson of Sandersville, a daughter, Lori Dawn (Stuart) Turner of Tennille, sister, Phyllis (Jack) Wood of Montrose, three grandchildren, Tyler Turner, Kristen Turner and Ally Jackson and two brothers & sisters-in-law, James (Linda) Goodman and Frank (Sue) Tompkins, his faithful companion, Snoopy and several nieces & nephews. The family may be contacted at their residence from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Pallbearers will be Danny Smith, Ralph Jackson, Tal Fountain, Jimmy Roach, Jessie Wood and Virgil Allen. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
