Ms. Reba LaBarge of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, October 17,2025. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Westview Cemetery, Wrightsville,Ga.
Rev. Ross Parker will officiate.
Ms. LaBarge was born August 7, 1940, in Johnson County, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Joel Letcher Hoover and the late Rosa Lee Carroll Hoover. Ms. LaBarge's family moved to Jacksonville during World War II for her father to work in the Jacksonville Shipyards. She had fond memories of returning to Johnson County in her childhood to spend each summer at her maternal grandmother's home, Ms. Eliza Carroll, in the Moore's Chapel Community, with her aunts, uncles and cousins. Ms. LaBarge continued to return in adulthood for Carroll Family reunions and other family events.
In addition to her parents, Ms. LaBarge was also predeceased by her brother, Richard Eugene Hoover and her beloved son, Joel Eugene Hoover.
Ms. LaBarge retired from the City of Jacksonville having served 20 years working in various city government offices and retired from the United States Postal Services with over 20 years of service. She attended Deermeadows Baptist Church and greatly enjoyed the worship services and fellowship of her church.
She is survived by her grandsons, Sean Michael LaBarge and Christopher Brian LaBarge; her
great-granddaughters, Ariana Rose LaBarge and Lilly LaBarge, all of Jacksonville; her maternal aunt, Ms. Hazel Rachels, of Wrightsville and numerous other extended family members. Ms. LaBarge was thankful and blessed to also have the love and friendship of many special neighbors, friends, and her church family. Their support meant so much throughout the years but especially during this last challenging year.
