Rev. James Rowland Burgess III

Funeral services for Rev. James Rowland Burgess III will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 23, 2026, in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Homes and Crematory, with interment to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Rebecca Duke-Burton will officiate.

Rev. Burgess was born August 24, 1941, in Ducktown, TN. He was the son of the late James Rowland Burgess, Jr. and Martha Elizabeth Stallings Burgess. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dale Memmelaar. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a retired Methodist Minister where he served in the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Rev. Burgess passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at his residence.

Rev. Burgess is survived by his wife, Susie T. Burgess of Dublin; 2 sons, James “Jamey” R. Burgess IV (Tammy) of Pendergrass and Samuel T. Burgess (Audra) of Flowery Branch; 2 daughters, Carla E. Memmelaar of Norcross and Heather M. Justice (Brian) of Dublin; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. Friday, October 23, 2026, at the funeral home.
