Rev. Jimmy Rogers Sumner

The Rev. Jimmy Rogers Sumner, 80, entered into heaven's gates on Sat, June 9, 2018, and ending his battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born May 24, 1938, in Adrian, GA., the son of the late Ottis Sumner and Opal Jones Sumner Walker. The funeral will be held on June 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at Garden of Prayer Assembly of God Church, Hwy 15 Adrian. Rev. Bobby Miller, Rev. Ray Gillis, Brenda Gillis and Rev LT Logue will officiate. The Family will receive friends Monday June 11, from 600-800pm at Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory (Dublin). Burial will be at Kea's Methodist Church (Adrian). Pallbearers serving their loving grandfather will be Alan Sumner, Justin Sumner, Corey Hall, Josh Powell, Dustin Hall, Brent Hall and Dawson Brooks. Jimmy was affectionately known to many as "Brother Jimmy." He retired from JP Stevens/Forstmann's in 2001. He was pastor of Emanuel Assembly of God (Adrian), East Dublin Assembly of God (East Dublin), First Assembly of God (Wrightsville) and Trinity Assembly of God (Wrightsville). He retired in December 2016 after 52 years of preaching. He enjoyed his family, friends, and church family with a love of preaching and fellowship in the Lord. Jimmy was proceeded in death by his parents, Ottis and Opal Sumner, step-father Manning Walker, his brother Jerry Sumner, and a step-sister, Pat Kemp. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 61 years, Robbie Mae Reese Sumner, his seven children, Kelly (Dale) Powell Adrian, Ga, Dean (Lora) Sumner, Adrian, Ga, Rickey (Valerie) Sumner, Dublin, Ga, Melissa (Stan) Hall, Fayetteville, Ga, Joy Sumner East Dublin, Ga, Daryl (Penny) Sumner, Wrightsville, Ga and Pam (Steven) Brooks, Rentz, Ga: two sisters, Barbara (Autry) Brantley, Wrightsville, Ga, Betty Sue (A D) Shephard, Thomaston, Ga; one sister-in-law Shirley Sumner, Dublin, Ga, step-sister, Sue Walker Owens Macon, Step brothers, Donnie Walker, SC, Jimmy (Kathrine) Walker, SC, Bobby Walker, Swainsboro, GA. grandchildren: Candi (Dave) Barry, Alan (Miki) Sumner, Holly (Michael) Moseley, Justin (Jessica) Sumner, Corey (Britney) Hall, Josh Powell, Dustin Hall, Dana (Hunter) Davis, Brent (Ariel) Hall, Mikayla Sumner, Bridget, Taylor and Dawson Brooks. Tasha (Jason) Giles, Josh (Kacy) Warren, Patrick (Elaine) Mimbs, Matthew (Tiffany) Hedge, Michael (Kelly) Wells, Jared and Samantha Wells and 21 great-grandchildren. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
