Richard Riley Brantley, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness. Born in Augusta, Georgia on January 29, 1969, Richard touched countless lives through his passion for teaching, his commitment to his community, and his boundless love for his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Monica Brantley; his father, William Riley Brantley Jr. (Diane); his mother, Margaret Hutcheson Brantley; his sisters, Allison Brantley Martino (Edward) and Katrina (Jarrett) White; a brother, Clint (Toni) Campbell his nephews, Anthony Martino, Daniel Martino, Makinzie McGuffey (Anna), Ryan McGuffey, Caleb White, Bishop Campbell, and Campbell White and sons; and his nieces, Kindee Cowley, Isabella McGuffey, and Brantley White.. He also leaves behind his cherished fur children: Finn, Molly, Gimley, Robert, Thunder, and his twelve beloved hens, along with numerous other family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Riley and Susie Mae Brantley, and Brooks and Laura Hutcheson.

A proud member of the Johnson County High School class of 1987, Richard graduated with honors, having played the trombone in the school band. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia School of Business and a Bachelor of Special Education from Georgia College, both with honors. Richard furthered his education with a Master of Education from Georgia College and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Middle Georgia College.

Richard's professional journey was marked by his dedication to special education. He was a cherished teacher at West Newton Elementary, where he found joy in teaching reading to special education students. His 17 years as a Coordinator at Mainstay Academy were equally impactful, but his return to the classroom demonstrated his true passion for direct student engagement.

Outside of his professional achievements, Richard was a Master 4-H member, an active member of the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, and a dedicated Outreach Team member at his church, Community Bible. He also served as Curriculum Director in Johnson County and Coordinator at Mainstay Academy for 17 years.

Richard's favorite activities included gardening, particularly his prized tomatoes and pumpkins, cheering for UGA football, fishing, and enjoying the beach. He was known for his love of fellowship, animals, God, and the simple joys of life. His infectious laughter and zest for life were evident to all who knew him.

Richard lived his life to the fullest, finding immense joy in his relationships and the beauty of nature. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his impact on his students and community will be remembered for years to come.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held at the Wrightsville Georgia Country Club on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 at 2:00 pm, where friends and family will gather to honor his remarkable journey and the love he shared with all.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to 4-H, the Community Bible Church Outreach Team in Stockbridge, GA, WWF, and the ASPCA, reflecting Richard's passion for education, community service, and animal welfare.

Richard Riley Brantley will be deeply missed, but his spirit and legacy will forever remain a guiding light for those who were fortunate enough to know him.
