Funeral services for Robert Thurston “Skippy/Squash” Attaway, Jr., age 90, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Burton Dixon and Rev. Rick Tooley officiating. Burial to follow in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Attaway was born on December 22, 1935, in Johnson County, Georgia. He was a retired Consumer Safety Inspector for USDA and was a member of Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jo Attaway, his parents, Robert Thurston Attaway and Annie Ola Attaway and his sister, Dixie A. Courtney. Mr. Attaway passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his residence.
He is survived by his daughter, Selinda Jo Attaway of Wrightsville; 3 sons, Robert T. Attaway, III (Donna) of Milledgeville, Stanley Alfred Attaway (Kay) of Wrightsville and Benjamin K. Attaway (Tammy) of Wrightsville; 4 sisters, Suzanne A. Prince of Hampton; Rosemary A. Dyer (David) of Milledgeville, Glenda A. Brown of Milledgeville, and Nancy A. Smith (Layne) of Bainbridge; 9 grandchildren, Nicole Attaway, Matthew R. Attaway, Alexis S. Fletcher, Lindsay A. Fountaine, Brooke A. Parrott, Courtney A. Adams, Brantley C. Attaway, Mattalyn S. Kilgore and Bentley J. Attaway; and 14 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cal Brantley, Ben Attaway, Stan Attaway, Bob Dyer, Bill Dyer and David Dyer.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. at the Attaway Lodge.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of the funeral arrangements.
