Funeral services for Robert Micheal "Mike" Harper, age 68, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 25, 2022 at Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene with Rev. David Hill officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 P.M. to 12:45 P.M. at the church.
Mike was born December 16, 1953 in Selma, Alabama to parents Robert Miles Harper and Betty Ruth Phillips. He was raised by his loving Aunt Louise Phillips. He thrived in sports at Selma High School and Trevecca Nazarene University playing baseball. Mike holds multiple college degrees including a Master's in Business Administration. He attended Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene when home from service in the military. He served 28 years in the United States Army holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel at retirement. Mike worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation in Tennille, Ga for 10 years before officially retiring.
Despite of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. He adored his loving wife, Barbara Harper. His children are Joey (Christie) Sumner, Robert (Carla) Harper, and Jessica (Jonathan) Thigpen; stepdaughters Jennifer (Rod) Cintra and Julie (Juar) Medina. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother. He has two half-sisters and one-half brother. He also has numerous grandchildren for which he would want to name: Josie, Seth, Walker, Scout, Mason, Hayes, Ella, Lilly, Harper, Tyler, Chloe, Ella, Luca and great-grandson Jack.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Hinton House, 116 S. James St, Adrian, GA 31002.
Pallbearers will be Joey Sumner, Robert Harper, Marty Thompson, Paul Webb, Jonathan Thigpen, Walker Johnson, Seth Sumner and Jaur Medina.
