Robert Bruce King, Sr.

A private memorial service for Robert Bruce King, Sr., age 88, will be held at a later date.

Mr. King was born on June 12, 1935, in Rockmart, Georgia. He was a graduate of Rockmart High School and attended Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. Mr. King worked for over 30 years in the papermill industry, having served as Engineering Manager at Continental Can Co., Augusta, GA; Mill Operations Manager at Southeast Paper Manufacturing Co., Dublin, GA; Engineer/Steam Plant Manager at Augusta Newsprint, Augusta, GA; and Maintenance and Engineering Manager at Newsprint South, Inc., Grenada, MS. He has lived in Dublin for the past 14 years. He was active in his church serving as an Elder of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, GA, prior to moving to Dublin. He was a member of Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church, Dublin, GA. Mr. King was a licensed radio amateur and has received a Public Service Award for emergency operations as a member of the American Radio Relay League. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Dewey King and Lois Mattie York King; sister Ernestine "Tina" (Charles R.) Rawlins; and his wife Barbara Ann King. Mr. King passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. King is survived by 2 sons, Robert Bruce (Nancy) King, Jr. of St. Augustine, FL, and David (Jana) Paul King of Lynchburg, VA, and 2 daughters, Babs Rheney of Dublin, and Beth (Michael) Hooks of Dublin, 11 grandchildren Paul King (fiancé Jennifer Black), Rob King, III (fiancé Maria Malalang), Chris King, Ben King, Jennifer King (Stephen) Camp, Britten King, Matt Rheney, Phillip Rheney, Cole (Kimberly) Moore, Sarah Jane (Riley) Holmes, and Holly Elizabeth (Kirk) Kempe and 13 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in memory of Mr. King to Georgia Hospice Care at 1111 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA 31021.
